Windows 7 Features: Styles

Styles (or themes as they are known in the beta) is a new feature to Windows 7. Styles is a set of customization options which consists of a Desktop Background or a set of Desktop Backgrounds in a slideshow (more on that later), the Window Color, Windows Sound Scheme and the Screen Saver. There are several default styles that come with Windows 7. Some are with backgrounds that were in windows Vista and some are completely new. The default ones are:

Windows 7

Landscape

Light Auras

Nature

A theme specific to your country. In my case I have the United Kingdom.

You can get the localized themes from C:\Windows\Globalization\MCT (it's best to type this into you address bar). From here you can get the Australian, Canadian, UK, US and South African themes.

Under the My Themes Section you can get more themes online.

Some Styles such as Nature, Landscape and Light Auras have multiple backgrouds. You can either take your pick and just have the one background or you can set up multiple ones in a slideshow. I will be making a future article on how to customise existing styles and to create and share your own styles.
