Windows 7 Features: Calculator
Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 10:31PM The calculator has went through it's most significant change ever in Windows 7. It may not be the most exciting new feature but the new functionality is very useful. In this post I will go through some of the new features. I have plenty of screen shots so you can see them in action.
First off let's have a look at what you will be greeted with when you open the calculator.

On the surface the calculator appears to not have changed much at all. Its not until you click on mode in the options menu that some of the new functionality comes to light. There are four different modes in total, Standard, Scientific, Programmer and Statistics. Standard is the default as shown above. Below is the other three modes.
First off here is the Scientific.

Next there is the Programmer mode. As a little note you can simply click on the zeros and change them to ones to quickly find out the numerical value of a binary string.

The last mode is the Statistics mode.

I am not a maths guru but even I can see there are some pretty neat calculations you can carry out with the calculator. The new features do not stop there though. The options menu has more features, these are a Unit Converter, a Date Calculator and Templates. Here are a few screenshots of each option.
