Mac App: CoconutBattery
Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 2:04AM CoconutBattery is a simple but very useful application that monitors your Mac's laptop battery. The application not only displays the charge in you battery but it tells you about the current charge capacity of your battery too. Other handy features are the Battery-Loadcycles counter, the age of your Mac, whether your charger is connected and if your battery is charging. Check out the pictures of the program below.
The picture above shows my battery at 100% charge and my current battery capacity is also 100%, in fact I have treated it so well I have mysteriously gained 2mAh.
This picture shows that I still have 64% of my battery left. Oddly my maximum battery charge has gone down too to 97%, I don't think it's a software bug since other battery monitoring programs report the same thing when the battery depletes. I think it's just the way the battery works.
Another feature is the Saved Data screen, this is activated by clicking on the little triangle to the right of "Additional Info". This allows you to monitor your maximum battery capacity over time.
Overall I think that Coconut Battery is a handy little app that's great to have to monitor the wear to your battery.
